Who we are
Barbix (“we”, “us”) operates the Barbix mobile app and this website (together, the “Service”). This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use the Service. It should be read together with our Terms of Use.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your phone number, your first and last name, and your language preference.
- Appointment details: the shop, barber, service, date and time of your appointments, and any notes you add.
- Shop details (for shop owners and barbers): shop name, address and city, services and prices, working hours, team members, and photos you upload.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you contact us, including your email address.
Information collected automatically
- Device notification token and device platform (iOS or Android), so we can notify you about your appointments.
- Technical logs: our servers and hosting providers record requests to the Service — such as IP address, timestamps, and app version — for security, debugging, and reliability.
- Notification history: a record of the appointment notifications sent to you.
Device permissions
- Camera: used only to scan a shop’s QR code so you can join it. We don’t store camera images or video.
- Photo library (shop owners): used only to let you choose photos to upload for your shop.
We don’t collect your precise location, your contacts, or payment card details. Barbix doesn’t process payments.
How we use information
- to create your account and confirm it’s really you, using one-time verification codes;
- to let you book, view, change, and cancel appointments, and to let shops manage their schedules and customers;
- to send you notifications about your appointments and other messages needed to run the Service;
- to provide support and respond to your requests;
- to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems; and
- to meet our legal obligations.
Who sees your information
- Barbershops you use. When you join a shop or book with it, that shop’s owner and barbers can see your name, phone number, and your appointments with that shop. Customers can see the shop’s information and its barbers’ names.
- Barbix staff. Our administrators may access account and shop data to set up shops, provide support, and keep the Service safe.
- Service providers. We use trusted companies to run the Service, and they handle data only on our behalf: cloud hosting (Render), database and file storage (Supabase), delivery of one-time verification codes (a messaging provider such as Twilio, including through WhatsApp or SMS), delivery of app updates (Expo), and the push-notification services run by Apple and Google.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.
- Business changes. If Barbix is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for third-party advertising.
Where your data is processed
Our providers may store and process data in countries other than your own, including the United States and Europe. Where we transfer data internationally, we take reasonable steps to make sure it stays protected in line with this policy and applicable law.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the Service. One-time verification codes expire after five minutes. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information, except where we need to keep limited records for legal, security, or dispute-resolution reasons.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security — but we work to protect your data and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
Your rights and choices
- Access and correction. You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. You can also update your name in the app.
- Deletion. You can ask us to delete your account and personal information.
- Notifications. You can turn off push notifications at any time in your device settings.
- Your legal rights. Depending on where you live — including under Israel’s Protection of Privacy Law, 1981, and, where it applies, the GDPR — you may have additional rights, such as to object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we’ll respond within a reasonable time.
Children
Barbix isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. A parent or guardian may book appointments for a child using their own account. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or on this website.
